It is impossible to discover the capital of Lithuania without visiting the richest part of Vilnius to admire the glorious medley of architectural beauty in the Old Town.
Our stroll will take us on a wonderful journey through time from the Gothic period churches to later pieces of stunning Lithuanian treasures on the outskirts of the circular town center.
We will look for the miracle powers of the ethereal painting of Mother of God at the Gates of Down and make our way down the old town streets to the City Hall Square. Past the lively town center we will arrive to Vilnius University. St. John ´s Church and the separate belfry are beautifully integrated to the baroque setting of one of the oldest universities founded in Eastern Europe. Next door we will also see the Presidential Palace up close and personal.
Thereafter will arrive to one of the most impressive ensembles in town to observe the majestic Gediminas Tower overlooking the Cathedral Square at a nearby hilltop. Vilnius Cathedral itself, elegantly set, dates already from the times of Mindaugas, the only King of Lithuania. The life around the medieval inspired square is in full swing, a lovely lush green park and nearby Old Town cafes call with their quaint atmosphere.
