Tour description

You will climb the medieval town wall, visit the inviting handicraft markets and marzipan museum room as well as the cozy workshops of craftsmen during a captivating holiday Old Town walking tour.

As a home to the worlds first public Christmas Tree and one of the finest Christmas Markets in Europe, the Winter Walking Tour in Tallinn Old Town is a must to do for everyone, even for the locals. This lovely tour will help you to get the best of the Old Town, as well as capture some of the medieval Christmas Spirit still alive. The ancient beauty of old city walls reminds us of the link between the past and the present.

Christmas market, irresistible gingerbread and marzipan perfume in the air will bring the Christmas time again a bit closer to your heart. Your private guide is pleased to take you on an enchanted journey through the past and present day Tallinn with a little holiday spice to enhance the feeling of being our special guest in Tallinn.

Your guide will lead you through the best of both Upper and Lower Old Town sights. We will see the panoramic views from Toompea Hill, admire the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Dome Church, Houses of Parliament and Danish King´s Garden. We will also enjoy our first warming break of mulled wine here.

Lower old town is centered around the lively Town Hall & Town Hall Square with the Town Council´s Pharmacy across the Gothic inspired Town Hall building. You will also admire the Church of the Holy Spirit, unique facade of the Great Guild Hall and enter into the magical atmosphere of Kalev Marzipan Museum room.

St.Catherine´s Passage craftsmen work might inspire you for unique and wonderful Christmas gift ideas to contemplate during a warming break with pastry and coffee/tea to make sure you stay warm and comfortable.

A special visit climbing the medieval fortification wall stairs for grand views or a Gingerbread Art Exhibition is also included in this tour itinerary. Although you probably will not see too many traditional gingerbread men or houses at this annual, modern art exhibit. This rather a very unique display showcasing anything from mythological characters to life-size gingerbread art.  Every year in Tallinn, known artists, designers, and architects turn some 300 kg of dough into unique creations.

The tour ends at the old town by historic Viru Gates.
