After a warm welcome we start with our guided sightseeing tour and visit the monument of the famous Finnish composer Sibelius located in a pine filled seaside park. The Sibelius monument seems to capture not only the beautiful music by Sibelius, but also the spirit of the Finnish people. The steel tubes cold as ice are stunning and warm in appearance. One of the most exceptional stops is the absolutely magnificent Rock Church. Temppeliaukkio Church, as the local know it, is a church like no other. The spectacular form of it is fully immersed in solid ground creating walls of natural rock covered by a seemingly floating copper dome. This is both a unique highlight of the city tour as well as a perfect place for personal reflection.
Thereafter, our journey takes us to visit the leading producer of chocolates, sweets and biscuits in Finland – Karl Fazer Museum. Fazer celebrated its 125th anniversary by opening a visitor centre in 2016 and a guided tour of the exhibition allows us to get to know about Fazer’s activities and explore the extensive product selection, as well as its long history and innovations. Of course we will have chocolate tasting and you can buy your favourite ones from the factory store to take back home.
Upon our return to the capital city of Helsinki, we will enjoy the historic Senate Square and Helsinki Cathedral, Esplanade walking street and the outstanding granite building of Helsinki Railway Station. On Market Square, just a few steps from the city center harbor front, you can take a few minutes to take in the city atmosphere or do some shopping for local seasonal produce instead.
Tour ends with a return transfer to your hotel or port.
