Tour description

Discover the best of Gdansk waterfront, medieval old town and the stories of Solidarity movement that have shaped today’s modern Polish society.

Itinerary starts from cruise port or your hotel and will take you to admire the Oliwa Archcathedral, dedicated to The Holy Trinity, Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. Bernard. The cathedral holds works of art in Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classical style of great artistic value as well as a unique organ of 7896 pipes and 110 registers.

Following a scenic drive to Gdansk, you will visit the more modern side of this charming port town. We will also stop to discover the monument commemorating the Fallen Shipyard Workers next to the European Solidarity Center, a movement, which ultimately led to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

We will continue the day by walking around the picturesque historic center of Gdansk with buildings surviving from the time of the Hanseatic League. Must-see sights are wonderfully located along Long Street and the Long Market, reconstructed in its 17th century elaborate style of color and detail.

From the Royal Route, you will proceed to see the Neptune’s Fountain, St. Mary’s Church – the second largest brick church in the world, and the Golden Gate. The riverside is dominated by views of the 14th century port crane, one of the defining symbols of Gdansk and represents what little is left of the city’s great trading age.

After some free time allocated for shopping or a coffee break in Gdansk Old Town we will go to discover the seaside resort of Sopot. In Sopot we will discover the holiday destination town of sunny beaches, historic architecture and the longest wooden pier in Europe set in beautiful ancient forest of beech, oak and pine. Its famous mineral waters springs and good maritime climate transformed Sopot into an an increasingly popular spa destination as early as in the 17th century luring in an affluent and aristocratic set of guests.

Sopot’s unavoidable spine is ‘Heroes of Monte Cassino’ Street, an attractive mall stretching from the railway line to the pier. Many of the towns cafes and places of entertainment line its pedestrianized length, some of which can be found in the unmissable Crooked House.

Tour comes to an end with a return transfer to cruise port or hotel.
