As one of the very few towns established in Finland during the Middle Ages, Porvoo still carries the unique atmosphere of old world charm palpable when strolling the cobbled streets of an 800-year old city.
After a scenic countryside drive from Helsinki we will arrive to enjoy a guided walking tour through the picturesque medieval old town and along Porvoo River all the way up to Porvoo Cathedral. From it´s most famous landmarks, the red shore houses on the riverbank to the seasonal stunning flower garden in the back yard of the Holm House, your private guide is happy to share the best kept secrets and legendary stories of Porvoo.
The local cafés and restaurants offer a cozy atmosphere and shops serve some of the most delicious sweets and chocolates this side of the arctic circle.
We will then take time to admire the Porvoo Cathedral, one of the city’s most well-known buildings boasting a remarkable history. After several fires survived, the cathedral is still standing tall with an impressive bell tower.
Our drive back to Helsinki will take across the river to one of the most photographed locations offering stunning views of the old town perched on a hill above the river.
The tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel or city center in Helsinki.
